For the 7th time we have organised the Dutch Film Day. This time, as a first, we are showing 2 Dutch feature films. The films we have selected are both based on true stories. Accused (Lucia de B.) is the story of a Dutch nurse who was sentenced to life in prison, but eventually was released. It is the greatest miscarriage of justice in Dutch history. The second film, A Real Vermeer (Een Echte Vermeer), is about the life of Dutch painter Han van Meegeren, from his beginnings as a rebellious young artist in 1920s Amsterdam and later in Delft, to his rise to infamy as one of the most ingenious art forgers of all time. Both films won prizes: “Accused" for best film at the Milano International Film Festival 2016 and "A Real Vermeer" won the Silver Remi Award at the WorldFest Houston 2017. First time shown in Australia.
